Comments: Psychoanalysis after Freud has taken on a variety of forms. The work of his daughter, Anna Freud, as well as Erik Erikson, Margaret Mahler and other modern psychoanalysists, continues to have significance in the study of child development in clinical practice, and in such non-psychological areas as history and literature. This class introduces some of those directions in modern psychoanalysis and distinguishes the work of the “ego psychologists” from traditional psychoanalysis.
